What's that you say? These are ear trumpets--the pre electric forerunners to the modern hearing aid. The engraving of them comes from an 1870's medical book. They were a fixture of Victorian times and actually came in versions that were far more elaborate than the ones illustrated here. Whether they really helped old age hearing loss, I could not tell you. (frame 900589)
