In the autumn when the leaves change color one of the last trees to hold their leaves is the oak. Those late-autumn colors are subtler than the bright maples, but they're no less beautiful. Rust, copper, bronze softly define the landscape. And then at your feet, shapes and colors. So many variations. Colors, shapes. Every leaf unique. I can never resist picking some up when I'm out on my walks. Suddenly I'm a child again, crunching through leaf piles, bringing handfuls of leaves home with me.
