This design, in another colorway and orientation, was my entry for the July 2016 Betabrand contest. The goal was to develop a design that was not what it seemed at first, i.e. which had hidden or disguised elements. I began with a section of an abstract design I had done previously, and worked from that, in a ® style. In other words, I had no idea where I was going. I just kept following the creative urge. * * * Take a close look at this design. How many young women do you see? One of the reasons I named this pattern "L'affascinante Ragazza" is because only one or two young women are apparent at first; but if you keep looking you will see many more. This phrase is Italian for 'the fascinating girl." * * * Though not tesselations, which would be nesting repetitions of the same one or two elements, the various depictions of young women are all entwined. Hope you enjoy it! * * * Send me a message through the link in the left hand column if you need this in another size! * * * Happy sewing!* * * copyright Mary K Wykes July 7, 2016
