When I was a child my parents took me to Manhattan New York City where I was immediately impressed by the art deco all around me, from the facade of the Chrysler building (which actually has pictures of cars built into it) through the lobby of 30 Rock and its art deco art. Mostly I remember an elevator door of gold. I don't know where that elevator door was located--in a department store, or the Empire State Building, or the apartment of my father's brother. I just remember that it looked vaguely like this design: twisting, angular, with lots of slick curves and parallel lines. So, to all the art deco elevators left on this planet, this design is dedicated.
