Giant scale squid dress up cape (that sits on your head). Designed for 54" wide fabric (minky or eco canvas). Instructions: Cut out all pieces adding a 1/2 to 3/4 inch seam allowance. Right sides facing, sew the squid fins together. Lightly stuff if you want to. Position and sew the fins to the orange patterned front eyed piece. Right sides facing (and fins on the inside) sew the orange patterned back and front pieces together. Turn right side out. Right sides facing, sew the hexagon patterned lining pieces together. Slip inside the orange patterned body and place some holding stitches at the top. For the capes 'opening', carefully turn in the fabric, pin and baste. Add a tie or snap fastening if you wish. Repeat along the bottom of the cape. The legs and tentacles will be inserted into this hem before sewing. Squid have 8 legs and two longer tentacles. The striped tentacles and the patterned legs should be folded in half vertically and sewn. I'd recommend top sewing rather than turning right side out with thicker fabrics. Arrange the different patterned legs and baste them evenly around the base (every 6" or so). Put the tentacles at the front at the opening. The height of the 'body' is about 36" so with a little jiggery-pokery you might even be able to make a little tee pee hide out with this.
