short cape and sleeve cuffs.
This design is supposed to imitate the medaillon fabric that was used on Padmé's Travel gown on the short cape and sleeve cuffs.
I've digitized the embroideries from photos of the original gown, embroidered those with my embroidery machine and then used photos of those embroideries to create this ditigal fabric. So while it LOOKS like embroidery, it's "just" printed, mock embroidery.
Note that you can best see what I describe from now on if you switch the view between Test swatch (closeup), Fat Quarter (a slightly more zoomed out view) and 1 yard (full view just so you can see how the pattern is laid out on the fabric)!
The very left selvage side of the fabric has every second medaillon skipped, so you can make the sleeve cuffs properly (since those only have one medaillon on them, not the repeat). There's also quite a bit of 'free space' on that left side; you can use that fabric to cover the sleeve cuff and cape buttons.
The overall size of the pattern is very close to that of the original gown and was calculated using proportional measuring of the actresses' real height compared to a full-length photo of the original dress.
A coordinating fabric for the base of the dress, a 'bubbles' fabric for the sleeves, a 'plain' fabric for the hood as well as a "fans" brocade imitation for the cloak are available at my Spoonflower store (http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/bonnie_phantasm) as well; you can find them easiest by browsing my themed fabric collections (http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/bonnie_phantasm?filter_action=collection&info_action=&nav_action=all&shop_selection=all_collection&sub_action=new_profile), then select the "Travel dress" collection.
This fabric, if you want to replicate the original gown, works best in Organic Cotton Sateen, which is why I recommend ordering this design in that material quality.
I do recommend to order this and the base fabric for the dress in the very same material quality, since the colors tend to print slightly different when using different fabrics - and you want the colors of the sleeve cuffs / cape and the base dress to match perfectly.
In case you would like this fabric in a different color scheme, don't hesitate to send me a message!
If you were always wondering how different colors print on the various fabrics that Spoonflower offers, please do have a look at my website where I have quite a few comprehensive photos of color swatches printed on various fabrics!
