tips/instructions!
This plaid was made specifically to be made into a pleated skirt! It better shows the richness of the colors and isn't too shiny.< I am working on my own pleating and construction guide, but I haven't yet made my own skirt lol. But I made this plaid based on Sparkle Pipsi's Love Live plaid, so her pleating guide will work in a pinch! http://sparklepipsi.com/tutorials/SparklePipsi_LoveLiveTutorial.pdf Of course this can also be used for pants! Just make sure to order enough fabric and line up your pattern pieces correctly :) NOT SURE HOW MUCH FABRIC TO ORDER? - just ONE yard will get you a skirt that is 13.5 inches long and will fit a waist of 32'' or less - IF you do a regular folded waist band and NOT the accurate yoked waistband. (so if you are cosplaying Ann or Haru, you can get away with not doing an accurate waistband since their clothes cover it up anyway.) you can make your skirt shorter, but I did design this so that the final product would have four rows of horizontal stripes. Keep this in mind if you need a shorter skirt and cut accordingly. - if you are looking to do the yoked waistband (like Makoto has) you will need to order more fabric - how much depends on your own sizing. I plan to try and make my own so I will update this/add that info to my construction guide when I get there! - > HOT TIP< if you don't need your skirt to be longer, just wider than 32'' - order a Fat Quarter! I got one to test out the pleats with and I managed to get 5 pleats out of it (which amounts to about ten inches). - if you need your skirt to be LONGER than 13.5'' inches, you will need to order 2 yards. A Fat Quarter will only work to add width, not length. If you have questions, fastest way to contact me is Twitter! @lulukohime
