Serendipity! The Smithsonian Folklife Festival celebrates Peru this year, right in time for the llama challenge! We were able to visit "Perú: Pachamama" and met some wonderful artists and artisans. The setting for "Daily Llama... Nightly Llama!" grew out of another project. For MIID Summer School's tribal/animal collage brief (2014), I wanted a global feel, but didn't want to borrow motifs that might be personal or sacred. I ended up creating 32 different borders that were not specific to any one people for "One Tribe". To give these llamas a home, I chose motifs from "One Tribe" that, to me, have some of the flavor of Peru... I hope the artists we met would agree! :D (Don't llamas make you want to double all your initial L's?)
