raul

raul says: Laura, I'm so sorry. The cream tone background is due to the preview of the page when the image in done in LAB colors (not RGB), as I do. Is a Spoonflower thing, not mine. That's why I always try to have a photo of the printed product. But you are right about the second image, that was a bad picture, I'll remove it. Glad you like the pattern anyway!

dodilijv

dodilijv says: Just received fabric in the mail. I really love the design, but is there anyway you can delete the first two images. The background color is more of a super pale sky blue/white now. I was looking for a cream tone background and didn't scroll down to read the comments. Thanks!

bad_penny

bad_penny says: Very nice design, Raul! In Santa Fe, New Mexico, the shoes on wires seemed to start as an arty thing but like graffiti became over done.

In the forum http://www.flickr.com/groups/sfpatterncritique/ (you have to request an invitation to see the content, is a private forum), I started a thread showing all my process from sketch to final on my Boats and Pelicans pattern, lots of comments and feedback, you might find something useful there!

tallula...

tallulahdahling says: What an imaginative idea! Very clever, and I love the silhouettes, the kite, the shoes. As to shoe-tossing, one day my husband and I came out of our house to walk to dinner, and there were LOTS of mixed pairs of tennis-shoes draped all over the neighborhood phone wires. They were all brand-new shoes, with clean, unworn soles. Stolen? Bought cheap? In this case I'm sure it was just very naughty teen-mischief, but what a waste. Those shoes have been hanging up there now for about a year.

tamarack

tamarack says: This is an amazing design--I love it!! About shoe-tossing--I've heard it was to indicate a drug house. The gang connection really is mostly an LA thing. I've read up on this and there are a number of theories. Personally I think the majority are just kids being mischievous, so I find it simply whimsical!!

raul

raul says: Trebligrachel, thankfully here in Peru, for what I know, that is not the case! I have seen shoes like that all my life and never known of that connection, sad to know is like that there. I even saw in Mexico a group of like 10+ pairs of shoes in the same spot of the same cable... I have the picture somewhere...

babysis...

babysisterrae says: really cool city livin design. shoes on electrical wire usually are the shoes of a dead person shot from gang violence. at least this is true in los angeles.

raul

raul says: Glad you like it! I wanted to show all the complexity and chaos of the telephone cables on my city, is like a whole other world up there.
