Alice didn't know what to think. The sky was blue and the grass was green, but the gardens weren't anything like the ones at home. First off they were entirely symmetrical, which made sense because they were inside a mirror. But she had never seen buds grow tip to tip, not even twin buds. And as for Celtic knot branches--there were none like that in her English home. But the flowers were all cheerful and bright and full of halftone shades. Real flowers didn't have red outlines the way these did, but they looked good with red outlines, so Alice decided to just accept the Looking Glass Garden, and chalk its cheerful and bright unreality to storybook fantasy.
