If you'd like the surface to look like canvas, remember scale. Canvas will be too bumpy for tiny details in miniature. -Petal cotton has similar surface, -Chiffon is easy to work with and might show your surface color through a bit. -Crepe de chine should be wrapped tight enough that it will not drape. -Poplin is opaque and crisp.
