overbite faces, should be driving one?
1958 was the last year for Packard, which in many ways was not fair. In 1954 they had merged with the Studebaker corporation in an odd marriage of money and marketing. Packard had the money. Studebaker was the bigger sales presence. In other words, Packard bought Studebaker, but it was Packard that would soon cease to exist. 1958 was the final year for Packard as a marque, and the sub-Simpsons overbite face that blended a fiberglass front on what was very similar to the Studebaker Hawk, was one of the last models that would wear the Packard name. They say 588 were built, which means if you buy 5 yards of this, you will probably have more four inch long red Packard Hawks than were ever built. And one yard will probably make you the owner of more than are still on the road today. (file xyy105Packard1958-ch, #5367872)
