Kereru are the New Zealand native Wood Pigeon - they're ridiculously oversized as far as pigeons go, and often choose spindly little branches to sit on - a sight that always makes me giggle! - and make the most amazing noise when they're flapping past. We often see them hanging out on telephone wires in our neighbourhood, or in trees at the bottom of the garden.
