Garden Party—Pink Dinner Napkins bykimnyc

It always starts or ends with a story. I didn't belong in a place where you had to wear a white dress and eat cucumber sandwiches, but there I was, doing just that, in a room with crisp green and white bamboo trellis wallpaper. I felt like I had the opposite energy of the place, but the old wallpaper reminded me of the villas from the 70s on Hilton Head Island, so I loved the print anyway, and I designed this one, which reminds me of those old preppy prints that for some reason I love and find comforting, despite some of the places where you might find them. Somehow I was also reminded of my grandmother's cut-velvet couch while designing this too—definitely not of the preppy variety, but also lodged in my childhood memories.
