When sewing the back and front of the body together on a sewing machine (right sides facing), leave sharp concave curves open - e.g. just above the top of the ears and just below the bottom of the ears. Sew these by hand using ladder stitch after turning the plushie right side out to prevent puckering. Don't cut out the blank areas between the arms and body and between the legs. After turning right side out, sew around the edges of these (by hand will ensure the front and back images align) to create flat areas that will remain unstuffed after you stuff around them into the rest of the plushie. Hand-quilting with Holbein stitch along the edges of all the feathers on the wings (to align front and back images) after stuffing the wings is time-consuming but produces a fabulous quilted effect. If you don't want to quilt the wings, keep them flat by inserting a piece of polyester padded bag lining cut to shape, rather than inserting lumps of regular stuffing.
