are being threatened by White-nose Syndrome which
Today there are over 8 species of extinct bats and many more are endangered. Many bats in my region are being threatened by White-nose Syndrome which "causes bats to awaken more often during hibernation and use up the stored fat reserves that are needed to get them through the winter. Infected bats often emerge too soon from hibernation and are often seen flying around in midwinter. These bats usually freeze or starve to death." You can learn more about bats and conservation at http://www.batcon.org/ These bats are all hanging from the ceiling of a cave with lots of nice nooks and crannies!
