Large Piranhas have been components for horror and B-movies since the 1970s, but this monster piranha really existed 8-10 million years back !
The Megapiranha Paranensis is the extinct relative of today’s black piranha. It might have reached lengths of about 1.3 meters (4 ft) and weighed up to 73 kilograms. Also it might have the strongest bite ever : stronger than gators, sharks, and even the Tyrannosaurus Rex ! Indeed Paleontolongists calculated that its jaw-tip bite force could have been as high as 484 kilograms ; the bite force of T. Rex is estimated to be almost three times that of Megapiranha, but the T. Rex was more than 100 times heftier !
