An original vector illustration, layered with a piece of hand-painted paper to give it some depth and texture. I wanted to create something that had the medallion-like repeating shapes that are a signature of Spanish tiles, but without it being just a simple geometric pattern. So I decided to make a meeting of a mermaid and an octopus. I added some texture to the design, by layering it with a piece of painted paper created by mom.
