According to Norse legend, the world is lodged in an immense ash tree, named Yggdrasil. An eagle perches at the top of this tree. Between the eyes of the eagle perches the hawk, named Vedrfolnir. Perhaps the hawk is a nice companion for the eagle, who otherwise would have to endure alone the endless irritating comments conveyed by the squirrel Ratatosk, who runs back and forth between the eagle and the dragon Nidhogg at the base of the tree.
