I have never cared for going to Hawaii or Europe for a vacation. I have wanted to stay right where I was and travel back in time. See the world before there were traffic lights on every corner. See the styles of graphics, architecture, even listen to the way language is used. For instance, "bah humbug" was a common phrase in the mid 19th century. It only exists as what Scrooge says today, because it isn't used by everyone in our life times. But it is as if Scrooge said "oh phooey," not a special phrase for him alone. What this wish/observation has to do wit this graphic design of casual dots and flowers, art nouveau tendencies (mixed with some pop art ones) is, I imagine I would see authentic versions of this style if I went back in time to the turn of the 19th into 20th century. And I'd be ecstatic. As it is, I can only see re-creations and surviving examples in books and museums, and create my own almost pseudo batik versions. (file j15h2e)
