I took some of the design elements that I used in this ultra detail-filled psychedelic abstract from a genuine Victorian watch case catalog. The Victorians were really into ornamentation on top of ornamentation and the "flower children" of Haight Ashbury picked up on warped 1880's-1890's romance and flowers, twisted lettering, and druggy perceptions wholesale. Victorian watch cases were full of flowers, and more flowers, twisted leaves, ornamental curls, flying birds, hunting dogs, and geometric forms. Except for the hunting dogs (and men with rifles) the hippies used very close to the same themes. So this is a romantic Victorian psychedelic hippie flower power fabric design that owes its origins to themes of the 1890's, designed in 2012. (file k94)
