Despite its name, rosewood is not the branches of a rose bush. It is any dark and ornamentally grained wood, particularly one of the woods very popular in Victorian and early 20th century furniture. It gets its name because it smells good and keeps its smell longer than some other lumbers, causing the furniture made with it, to give the area a smell supposedly like there were roses in the room. (I can't verify what the wood really smells like. Though we had a lot of rosewood in the homes that I grew up in, all of it was at least a century old, and had no scent by then). The loops and brown branches in this design remind me of the burl in rosewood, and the branches of the rose bushes that wood is not actually made from. They twist and weave amid each other with abstract pink petals along their stalks. If there were any real rose branches to rosewood, these small and almost hidden hearts, snail curls, and brownish sine waves would depict it. Despite what the screen displays this design is NOT brown on tan. It is red on tan (a royal red, not as dark as burgundy, but darker than primary color red).
