I remember snow, and waking up on a weekday morning to find a thick white blanket of the stuff all over my roof, yard, and driveway. I remember the silence of the world under this fresh fallen snow. No cars moving on the street. No people out making sounds. And I remember leaping out of bed to hear the radio. My school district's snow number was 302. Would they really say districts 200-350 were closed? Or would they say 200-301, and 303-350 are closed. 302 will be open today. I remember the celebration when 302 was included in the closure. And the resigned look on my mother's face when she found out that she would be stuck with me all day. My mother hated snow days as much as I loved them. Most of all I remember getting on a big jet plane and leaving that cold, wet stuff behind me. I moved to a place where it does not snow, relegating snow days to fond childhood memories.
