Inspired by the Regency love of brown, while creating my Jane Austen collection, this design is perfect for Autumn and beyond for those who love an earthy style. This watercolor painted design is very loosely based on ands inspired by Jane Austen's oak leaf Pelisse coat shown here: http://www3.hants.gov.uk/austen/austen-pelisse.htm Jane Austen wore oak leaves a lot because of their significance to the British Royal Navy, which her brothers played important roles in. The oak-leaf pattern is interpreted as a British patriotic motif, especially during the period of Napoleonic conflicts. So, in a nut shell (hehe!) acorns and oak trees symbolize: longevity, humble beginnings, patience, faith, power, endurance, and strength.
