with a subtle damask background.
This design is created from several vintage botanical illustrations from the 1800s. Using a watercolor simulating filter in Photoshop, I combined these 150-year-old images to create a flower and greenery garden border, with a subtle damask background of swirling filigree that fades out as it reaches the top edge of the fabric. Take a close-up look at the flowers and greenery to see the painterly watercolor effect that I was able to achieve. The repeating is every 20 inches. It can be used effectively as a hem border with the garden's repeating far enough apart to keep the design from looking fragmented or having a staccato effect.
