Urnes Style - A later (second half of the 11th century and in the early 12th century) Scandinavian theme. This work draws on - and is inspired by that tradition. This pattern is notable for slim highly stylized animals in interwoven tight patterns, almost all in profile. Urnes style itself has three relatively distinct phases. (Early, Middle, and Late periods) Several Runemasters have and are directly attributed to some of the works we still have, making this style most fascinating.
