a duvet cover, or quilt it for a real treasure.
If you would like this design in a smaller size, just ask. I will be glad to get it set up for you. The well loved Cathedral Window quilt pattern alternates the straight lines which are the edges of the basic square with a variety of curved lines. I used to think of the shape featured in the center of each square as a diamond with curved edges but have discovered it is called a superellipse. It is the concave lines on its sides that puts it in this class. When making a traditional Cathedral Window square, one starts with a square of muslin and folds it in a way that leaves a space in the middle. In this space is placed a smaller square of more decorative fabric. The edges of the muslin are then folded back and stitched by hand. At the end one then stitches all of the Cathedral Window squares together by hand. I tried this once - and it was beautiful. But I never had the patience to finish it. The digital version is a little tricky to produce, but certainly much quicker than all that hand stitching for each square. copyright - Mary Beglau Wykes - 4-20-2020
