I was inspired to design this pattern by a 150-year-old children's book called "Caw caw; or, the chronicle of crows" by RM. You can see it here: https://archive.org/details/cawcaworchronic00rmrmiala It's a morbid tale of the life of scavenger birds seen as pests, and dinner, by farmers. The sorrowful story is told in poetry accompanied by lovely pen and ink illustrations.
