of block print inspired modern tic tac toe
Shapes in the greater collection each represent a personal memory or icon from my heritage. The triangle can be seen on the river banks of the Peace Valley, the circle is an ancient bead excavated from a local indigenous site, the loop when paired creates the infinity sign (the symbol found on the Metis flag) and the X represents the signature of my ancestor who could not sign his name in English on a scrip document in 1899. This collection also incorporates my favorite mix of colors: coral pink, crimson red, mint green, turquoise teal, navy blue & sunshine yellow with creamy off-white accents. I really love the simplicity of this pattern juxtaposed with the personally meaningful, regional & historical references.
