I remember studying mosses in botany class at university. Fascinating prehistoric plants which because of their limited development can only grow in damp places and lack the connective tissue to grow tall. Mosses are so diverse and so very beautiful. My favorite memory of mosses is hiking the Knysna trail and coming into a deep dark forest of ancient trees covered in soft green welcome moss. There were elephants about, but they were as silent and hidden as softness of the moss. I was with my daughter We took our shoes off, sank our tired feet onto a carpet of moss and made a cup of tea. The navy blue suggests the hidden silence, the acid green ‘flowers’ the vibrancy of living moss. Navy blue large scale
