the garden celebrates the hopes for the new year.
Inspired by the joyous adornments that appear every Spring on trees across Europe: Easter eggs, ribbons, and maypole streamers. Blithe Boughs is also a nod to dedicated trees like the Bittbaum in Zurich where one can tie a ribbon on to represent a hope or wish. When the trees themselves come into full bloom, it is as though they are bejeweled and dressed up in fluffy clouds of lace. Painted in a rainbow of radiant watercolor hues, this is a celebration of the promise of Spring and dreams of good days to come. Reginald Heber (1783–1826): “When Spring unlocks the flowers to paint the laughing soil.”
