Faux suede will give a thick leathery backgammon surface. Crepe de Chine and chiffon are feather-light, great for air travel where weight and space are valuable commodities. Chiffon is translucent, so would need to sit on a solid-colored surface. Use fray-check or sew edges. Knits would also do well, low-wrinkling with vibrant colors. Roughly four boards fit on a wrapping paper roll, and two should fit on a smooth wallpaper swatch. For marker storage, sew on a backing to form a pocket. Checkers can be coins, large sequins, wood discs, felt dots, buttons...as long as they fit the points/triangles. Doubling cube dice can be bought online, at game stores, or toy/game departments.
