digitally altered - rich browns, rust, blue
A strange fabric indeed, yet I find that it appeals to me. The central figure reminds me of the gargoyles I saw on old buildings when I was living in Germany. Gargoyles were supposed to protect one from evil spirits. This small version is great for a rodeo shirt, blouse or tote bag. There is also a large version in the collection. This design began as a small black and white drawing. I then enlarged it and embellished it with color. At that point it was a fantastical quail. Via digital tools it then morphed into what appears to me as an ox in regal medieval garb. But I also see an unusual ball, and footballs. In other words it is most definitely surreal, one of those designs where YOUR imagination will decide what is there.
