See more hemp leaf designs by Su_G. (https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/su_g?shop_selection=tag&tag=asanoha) Apparently in the old days in Japan there were master artisans who specialized in painting this design on fabric, which is probably why I wanted to try the same thing: it is very much harder than it looks. Asanoha mon (The Hemp Leaf Pattern) The mon of the Maru-ni-Asanoha family represents a stylized hemp leaf pattern. According to some, the plant symbolizes the power of growth (hemp being one of the most vigorous annual plants) and probably for this reason, the pattern is often used on babies' kimonos. See other designs by Su_G. (https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/su_g?sort=classic) Oil on paper, Japanese mon (Asanoha), basic repeat. [Currently set @ Fabric: 150 (was 200) ppi: can be resized – Spoonmail or comment below before ordering; Wallpaper: 150 ppi]
