Thoughts of how to create a relaxing retreat design made my mind wander to the drawings prehistoric artists created on cave walls. Were those drawings, created amid the soot of open cooking fires and the silt coating the cave walls, an early designer’s attempt to create a relaxing retreat? This design features cloud-like ethereal horses drifting across a heavily textured background called greige – not quite grey and not quite beige, but very neutral! Overall it is a restful design suitable to our modern day ‘caves’ yet I envy that prehistoric artist; I created one design among millions but she created history!
