The text is the lyrics of Le temps des cerises (“The Cherry Season”). This love song is extremely famous in French-speaking countries. It was written by Jean-Baptiste Clément in 1866. The song was later strongly associated with the “Paris Commune” (a revolutionary government that ruled Paris from March to May 1871) : the author was a communard and the song was very popular in those days, thus becoming a revolutionary song.
