About the Design

’Hemp leaf pattern pearls on denim pink by Su_G' (https://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/632815): Pearls in a hemp leaf pattern on soft denim pink, applied in dots of paint straight from the tube. The thumbnail shows a close up of my test print at a smaller scale (about two thirds of the current size). © Su Schaefer 2013 See more 'asanoha' or hemp leaf pattern designs by Su_G. (https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/su_g?shop_selection=tag&tag=asanoha) See other designs by Su_G. (https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/su_g?sort=classic) Apparently in the old days in Japan there were master artisans who specialized in painting this design on fabric, which is probably why I wanted to try the same thing: it is much harder than it looks. Asanoha mon (The Hemp Leaf Pattern) The mon of the Maru-ni-Asanoha family represents a stylized hemp leaf pattern. According to some, the plant symbolizes the power of growth (hemp being one of the most vigorous annual plants) and probably for this reason, the pattern is often used on babies' kimonos. Original: Oil on paper, designed for a basic repeat. [Currently set @ Fabric: 200 ppi, Wallpaper: 150 ppi] [ Proofed on Fabric @ 300 ppi ]
