A novelty print for the Papercut Flowers contest. This design includes primary colored construction paper, basic line drawing and a wee bit of gardening assistance from Monsieur Matisse. Henri Matisse was a French artist who was part of the Fauvist movement known for bold use of color. In his later years he turned to papercutting, due to his health. Usually, I have a sketched plan for what the final outcome might be. But, in this case, it was more fun to jump in and start cutting away. I imagine Matisse painting, napping, and proudly trimming the flowers as if they were wee works of art. He asks if the painting is finished and the cat says yes. designedbydebby.com
