(https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/su_g?sort=classic) 'Terroir' can be loosely translated as 'a sense of place' and the way certain qualities of a place are expressed in its products e.g., wine, coffee, and more recently, cheese (Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terroir)). Here I'm using 'terroir' to describe the fabulous red soils of desert Australia, and a 'product' of recent changes in artesian water storage levels which results in visually elegant (but sad to see) mature dead trees. These were a striking aspect of recent travels in the outback and called out to be worked into a design. Original: Chalk on paper, half-drop repeat.
