About the Design
A young girl/fawn rests against a mushroom reading a nonsense tale filled with silly animals-
gorgeous neutrals coordinating w/Sherwin Williams colors
This design has coordinating prints in my Wonderland collection: https://www.spoonflower.com/collections/773023-wonderland-by-gartmanstudio
I created this design using the Sherwin-Williams Hex codes for a few of their top colors. The Sherwin-Williams colors used in this design are:
sw 9109 Natural Linen (background)
sw 7016 Mindful grey
sw 6385 Dover White
sw 9081 Redend Point
sw 9006 Rojo Dust
sw 2860 Sage
My design is inspired by the original story written by Lewis Caroll in 1865 titled " Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". This is my take on several of the scenes and characters in the book. Alice is illustrated here as part fawn, inspired by the scene where Alice meets a fawn in the woods, who later figures out that it should be frightened of Alice because she's human. The Queen is a warthog, the King a small monkey, and the Cheshire Cat is a grinning tiger. The caterpillar in my design has already gone through the transformation into a butterfly (maturity). Its wings are illustrated with a range of symbols depicting moons/stars/happy and sad faces, an eye, and a skull (the skull was inspired by the Death's-head hawkmoth) that celebrate the cycle and rhythm of life. The card soldier is a bear...because bears can be pretty intimidating, but also entertaining when you think of the ones that are taught tricks and dance moves for stage and circus shows :). The dodo is off to the races with his fancy running shoes and jersey...the number 310 was my husband's pinny number in a major race, though his Boston Marathon number was 2661 which was too long a number for the little pinny in this design :)........Anyway, I hope you enjoy this design and a little peek into what I was thinking while creating it!
