About the Design

This "psychedelic" romp through the Paleozoic era is the perfect thing for anyone interested in the

ancient life of Planet Earth.

This 60’s style, semi-psychedelic pattern depicts the very beginnings of life at the center with early life tumbling outwards from there. The cut off time period I gave myself for the subject matter is the very end of the Permian Period when life suffered its biggest extinction ever, with over 90 percent of life disappearing from the fossil record. Our planet’s life suffered catastrophic losses during what’s commonly called ‘the great dying’. It was a global reset on every level. Many of the creatures and plants from the Paleozoic period look totally alien to us, unlike anything alive today. If you look closely though you’ll spot a few familiar looking plants and animals. There are dragonflies, cockroaches, millipedes, ferns, sea weed, horsetails, sea stars, jellies, and the humble chimaera among others. All of them are truly ancient survivors. They’re sometimes called ‘living fossils’, having survived relatively unchanged through vast periods of time.
