About the Design

Add 4x5" pockets to your t-shirts, bags, aprons, book covers, and more!

Cut each 4.5x5.5in illustration out including their border. For example, when cutting the fox pocket, include the pink border to use for the hem. On the top edge only, you may trim the first color of the border away if desire. Next, fold and press the second border fabric stripe, wrong sides together, to the main bar of color across the top. (for example, on the fox pocket, you can discard the pink bar on the top edge only. Then fold the gray bar behind the brick color and press) Then, fold this again the top again so that the bar is evenly divided - half in front and half folded behind. (now you will crease the middle of the brick color bar, hiding the gray bar inside this roll for a tidy hem edge). This is the entry edge of the pocket. Press and stitch across the bottom of the border to secure. A 1/4" border is indicated by a contrasting color around each illustration as a guide to hemming your pocket edges inward. Press along the contrasting border on the remaining three sides, wrong sides together to create a neat edge to your pocket. (For the fox, roll the three pink edges behind the pocket and press, fiddling with the overlap of the corners to suit your fabric). Lay this pocket over your project where you would like it to sit. Pin it into place and stitch around the left, bottom, and right edges. Enjoy!! **I recommend washing all fabrics before starting the sewing to minimize uneven shrinkage. **Try also to match the fabric bases as closely as possible (for example a jersey knit pocket for a t-shirt, or a cotton canvas for an apron) so that they wash and wear well over time.
