Description:

This is a collection of kitsch advertisements from a December 1918 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, 1914, 1915, and 1926 women's magazines, shows just what life was like for your great grandmother in the bad old days. Each ad was designed to be purchased as a swatch, with the swatches sewn together with double wide single fold bias tape and assembled into a checkerboard of old time advice. (It takes 3 packages of tape to surround 12 ads). All your favorite beauty products, diseases (from polio through catarrh), liquid potions, and body flaw cures can be found here. Of course this fabric can also be bought by the yard or fat quarter to create other projects such as bedroom or bathroom curtains, non-quilted bedspreads, aprons, or even clothing. This specific collection focuses on the lives of women but I have other ad collections you might also want to peruse to mix and match subject matter and eras.
