Description:

Click "GLIMMERICKS" above to visit my shop. Visit http://www.glimmericks.com/fabric-collections.html for an organized list of all my collections.

This design incorporates elements from 3 of the photos - the curved, painted yellow line became white and repeated; a bit of the texture of the cement peeping through the blue paint crumbling from the wall became the background; and the shapes of some of the dribble on the brickwork appear colored in the bright yellow of the original painted curve. The design has also been overlaid with a custom yarn texture (a reference to the yarn-wrapped bicycle photo) that I drew by hand. It combines with the cement texture to give a nubby look and the vertical lines draw the eye up the meandering paths. The palette was inspired by the yellow painted lines and grayish surface of the asphalt. This design has adapted well to a variety of colorways. See my full Urban Wanderer collection for alternative versions and related designs. Also check out the Cones of Silence for traffic cone-inspired designs.

glimmer...

glimmericks says: Thanks, everyone. I have been so busy making other colorways that I just now am getting back to viewing comments. I came up with the idea when I was almost going seeing double from working on the computer all night. Sef - I know what you mean. I was trying to keep it simple but still make it different. I did use almost all photos though. With the exception of one overlaid texture that I drew, the textures and outlines are all copied directly from the photos. I just changed and reduced the number of colors so it prints better and warped the curves slightly so they fit together seamlessly.

sef

sef says: I'm definitely in the less is more camp - ie designs which use very little of the original images, like this one, are more attractive. (Rather like in the fixed palette butterfly contest.) I did an almost-everything-including-the-kitchen-sink one anyway, though.
