My fabric interpretation of a cabinet of curiosity. I've always loved these, they're found in stately homes around the UK where well to do men would keep curiosities collected on grand tours. Often they featured some quite gruesome items and the best examples usually carry more financial value than the substantial antique furniture they reside in. Note that the depth and glass shading is significantly lighter on printing, this is intended as it would look a little cartoony if it came out as is on the monitor. Would make an awesome decoupage fabirc :)

glanoramay says: Thanks Jo, it took a few attempts to get the level of shading/glass sheen right, the new colour profile helped enormously though! I don't know that book but I first fell in love with them having seen one in a stately home in Scotland when I was little, I've loved eclectic oddities ever since :) Sold a yard of this recently on cotton canvas and I'd dearly love to see what the lady did with it for sure, also your uni work, post pics on flickr if you're on there, would be cool to see your finished work :) fab idea for a degree theme! :)

uzumakijo says: Ooh I see we have similiar tastes...I have always loved cabinets of curiousities too. Am currently working on a series of designs based on this theme for my uni degree (fashion and textiles) have you seen this book; 'Cabinets of Curiousities' by Patrick Mauries, my most recent book on the subject - lovin it! Your fabric has printed up wonderfully, I would also love to see what people make with it!
