If there's one animal I love as much as Akitas, it's snakes. Too bad the real ones aren't allowed where I live.

hakuai says: Thanks for your compliments, Su and Rhonda! Poisonous snakes are no fun and sort of ruin things for the sweet, docile snakes of the world. The snakes in this calendar are friendly, of course! Su, maybe you're right about the overuse of flair in the day initials... I was going for making them snakelike but it's better that they're legible, since they're not really focal points anyway!

su_g says: A really neat idea, and very nicely done, in a great set of colors! I really like the way the central snake makes the '2013'... And that slight shadowing under the dates makes them quite easy to read - although I did find the gothic typeface for the day initials a bit hard to read

rhondadesigns says: This is an ideal design for 2013, the Chinese Astrology Year of the Serpent! I'm afraid that I grew up in an area where venomous snakes were frequent and unwelcome visitors to our yard! I learned at a very young age to be vigilant and very careful when playing in the garden or walking in the bush. Fascinating as they are, I prefer snakes to not be in my personal space!
