Description:

Authentic Fraser tartan, shown as it would look after weathering. 6" repeat on fabric, 12" on wallpaper version, 4" on giftwrap. Wanting to buy this on a synthetic or Ultra-process fabric, or wallpaper/giftwrap? Consider thisgreyed and lightened version specifically designed for those fabrics.

Other Fraser tartans and sizes can be found here. Even more tartans can be found here. Want a different tartan? Leave a comment or Spoonflower-mail me!

weavingmajor says: Oh - and as for the fabric, I think a cotton knit scarf would be lovely. The cotton knit is the weight of a nice turtleneck - heavier than a T-shirt and less stretchy. Hope that helps!

weavingmajor says: Hi Laurie, I guess it depends on the look you want. This tartan is at a smaller scale (a 6" repeat, but really a 3" pattern with alternating lines) than the one shown in Flamingotoes' picture. If you look at a cotton knit FQ of this fabric, that's 27x18" so it's similar size to the 30"x18" rectangle she's talking about cutting. I don't have this tartan in a larger scale (I'd guess a comparable scale to what she shows would be a 12" repeat) but if you want a larger size I'd be happy to make one, just Spoonmail me or leave another comment!

barefootlake says: http://www.flamingotoes.com/2015/01/15-minute-plaid-lace-infinity-scarf/ I want to make this scarf using two different fraser tartans. Any suggestion on which scale would contrast the best with the weathered tartan? Also - fabric suggestion - I was thinking the organic cotton knit. I want a fall/winter scarf. Thanks!

weavingmajor says: Hi Madalyn, it all depends on what sort of skirt you want! The twill is like a lightweight denim, it would make a heavier skirt but not too heavy IMO. The basic cotton is like the generic fabric you find at JoAnn's or Wal-Mart and the lighter (less printed) parts are rather see-through, you'd likely need a slip or a lining (though this print is dark so it might be okay.) The Kona cotton is a bit heavier and has a nicer feel to it. For myself, if it were a summer skirt or pleated kilt, I'd make it from the Kona. If it were a winter skirt, I'd use the twill. If you haven't seen this page - http://www.spoonflower.com/spoonflower_fabrics - it has all the details and from there you can order samples of all the fabrics for $1. Good luck with your skirt!

madalynw says: Hi, is the heavy cotton twill a good choice for a long skirt? Or would it be too heavy. Is your basic cotton similar weight to tshirt cotton? Thanks!
