Description:

Add a softer, finished touch to your clothes and upholstery with covered buttons! You can also use these radial circles for plush animal eyes and brooch pins.

Making a cloth-covered button is easy. Packages of metal buttons are sold in fabric stores and online, sometimes with a small pushing tool. Spread the fabric over the top and tuck it under; pressing the back piece in tightens the fit. Keep it smooth. Buttons are sold flat-backed or with a wire loop for threading. A variety of denim, to teal, periwinkle, to snowy sky blues.

wren_leyland says: Thank you Su! I thought of covering buttons before Christmas, and suspected I would waste time fussing over them. The snowflake challenge buttons were my solution to my own messy approaches. Btw, the button cover test print order has been placed. Bolder graphics will also be available.

wren_leyland says: Hi Lucie, later this week I will order a batch of sample prints, and plan to include this one. So I'd guess it will be available in two weeks, along with some other colors. Thank you!

wren_leyland says: Lori, thank you! I liked the shading on your snowflakes (technically, they are dimensional).

wren_leyland says: Thank you, materialsgirl! People can make button covers without the circular guides, but I realized how we often give up on ideas when there are too many steps and measurements that can go wrong. This way, people can cut a perfect circle, know what it will look like, and keep a certain consistency. Some of these buttons have a slight variation btw -- facing each other with intentional mirroring.

materialsgirl says: LOVE this idea! And these flakes make a wonderful fabric design just as they are on the fabric.
