Description:

When designs are set to fat quarter (as with this contest), a good way to see the overall detail is to see it in the "quick look" tool. The details become really clear and it is possible to zoom around over the design.

pd_frasure

pd_frasure says: Also the pillowy three-dimensionality that truly downy flakes have, aah.

pd_frasure

pd_frasure says: Expresses well the way one's attention focusses on the snowflake and zooms in on the details. Also the particular state of cold vortices that for an instant cause them to dance while still preserving their perfect forms.

joanmcl...

joanmclemore says: I kept working through lots of techniques and it was difficult to get to that point for just which one to use to pull this together, so I do know what you mean Kathleen. Those pines are a good background choice for the snowflakes I think. I always enjoy your pines when I've seen them pop up in the past. That design brings back memories of our big white Christmas two years ago. It is a rare thing to have a White Christmas, since we tend to have measure-able snow in February not December. But when we got up on the 25th that year the pines were heavily draped in layers of white. The weather people had not even predicted snow. We all looked like wide eyed children as we realized we had that rare White Christmas. Your design took me back to that morning. Thanks for the complimentary review too!

joanmclemore says: Thank you Jennifer! I appreciate that! I kept showing my husband different versions with variations of effect and he was helpful in telling me when they didn't seem to be what I was shooting for. Eventually it came into range and I decided............this is what I'm going with............... :)

joanmcl...

joanmclemore says: Thank you Shelley, Su and Julie! When something is so pretty in real life (like a snowflake)............it feels that much more difficult to convey. Anything hand done (or digitally) just pales in comparison to the real life exquisite, delicate nature of a God's handiwork in a snowflake. So I really appreciate the comments.

joanmclemore says: Thanks so much ya'll! Su must be thinking about you Boo.............You probably meant to say Joan............. How amazing that it is sweltering in the Land Down Under. Su and I chat about the difference in the weather from this half of the world to the other. We've finally gotten out of the sweltering days and into sweater weather. That is really neat to think they've almost transported you t o cooler climates. LOL!
