Description:

Pair bonds between male and female Albatross form over several years, with the use of 'ritualised dances', and will last for the life of the pair.

Albatross spend at least 85 percent of their lives at sea and are renowned ocean wanderers, they travel vast distances from their breeding grounds to feed. The royal albatross, for example, with its massive wingspan of up to 3.3 metres flies an estimated 190,000 kilometres a year.

smuk says: Thank you Rhonda! I worked on a deepsea fishing vessel for several years and used to love seeing these beautiful, huge birds flying alongside the vessel outside my porthole.

rhondadesigns says: You have captured a fabulous feeling of the joy in free-wheeling flight in your fantastic design! The cameo portraits of the albatross couples are reminiscent of the shape of portholes on a ship. I thought that was very appropriate for these amazing maritime wanderers!
